This dazzling blue bead makes a beautiful Murano glass pendant. It is a large bead cube 18mm x 16mm. This handcrafted silver glass bead from Murano is made in a five-step process. First a small amount of aqua glass is wrapped around a copper mandrel, and rolled in a single layer of pure silver foil. Then a tiny rod of cobalt blue is applied to the bead as it is delicately turned on the mandrel to create a perfect spiral. Finally the bead is covered with transparent aqua glass, and it is shaped by hand into a cube, using cast iron pincers. Most Murano beads have silver or gold foil, to add luminosity to transparent glass. We design this bead exclusively, and have created some of the finest crafts glass beads in the world.
