The rich ruby stripes in these Murano gold glass beads creates a fiery effect. This rounded disk bead is 16mm in diameter and makes a great earring or small pendant. To make this bead, we start by melting a small amount of molten crystal glass on a copper wire or mandrel, and we roll it in a thin layer of pure 24k gold foil, hammered very thin. Then we melt a tiny rod of 'rubino oro' glass around the bead in a spiral. Rubino is most beautiful and costly of all the colors, called 'rubino oro' because it has real 24k gold inside the molten glass. Then we cover the bead with pale rose molten glass, and shape it into a rounded disk with a cast iron stamping tool.
